No cure for flu: You don't "cure" the flu.  It's a viral infection, and we have a cure for only one viral infection: hepatitis c.  The flu just has to get better on its own.  The only things we know of that will speed that process up are anti-influenza drugs like tamiflu (oseltamivir).

The Flu: If you have the flu hydrate well w water, herbal teas, soup or juice. Drink sufficiently to have pale to light yellow urine. You can use pain relievers like tylenol (acetaminophen) or nsaid’s. Rest a lot!

Rest/Hrdration: Keep yourself hydrated, rest and try to maintain simple food intake. Avoid stressful physical activity, keep fever control with cool compress . Avoid fatty spicy foods. Keep your hands clean, cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze

Try clear broth. *  add honey & a small amt. Of lemon juice to chamomile tea. Add honey & a small amt. Of lemon juice to chamomile tea.

Treat symptoms: If you've had the flu, less than 30 hours - call your doctor - as you might benefit from a medication like Relenza or Tamiflu.  If not, best bet is to treat symptomatically - formulas like Tylenol (acetaminophen) Multi-Symptom Severe work quite well. Drink lots of fluids (hot tea), long hot showers open up the nasal passage &amp; chest congestion and rest is always a good bet.

Rest a lot! in some situations antiviral medications (tamiflu, relenza, flumadine) may be prescribed within the first couple of days of symptoms to hasten healing or they can be used after flu exposure to prevent illness.

TLC: Treating the symptoms by maintaining hydration and keeping fever down help. Look up homeopathic remedies like bryonia, gelsemium and oscillococcinum. There is an excellent book, homeopathy at home by m panos that you will find helpful. Fluids fluids fluids, tylenol (acetaminophen) as needed, time and rest are the usual recommendations. See your doctor if fever persists >3-4 days or child is getting worse.
