i went off antihistamines and 2-3 days later had hives & sudden flushing, hot face. is it typical to have an effect/backlash like this when stopping?

Hives off meds: That is not typical. You may have suppressed an underlying condition which developed while you were taking the allergy medicine for a different reason. If you were taking them for hives, then it just means your condition has not resolved yet. It is common to experience some itching after discontinuation of anti-histamines for a few days but your symptoms sound more than just itching.

my dr and i decided to try stopping montelukast, taken for years for chronic hives. i forgot to ask if it needs to be tapered or just stop taking it?

My opinion only: TAPER ...when possible with ANY medication  is the preferable way to stop without a REBOUND (return)of the symptomatology !

No: To my knowledge there is no direct effect of weed suppressing hives or any hives from withdrawal.  One can certainly become allergic to it but this is not common.  Hives themselves are very common however so you might look elsewhere.

NO NO NO: Itch and hives might be allergy to the antibiotic!! Stay off. What does your DR say? Why taking levaquin (levofloxacin)?

Allergic reaction: If the rash started when you started taking the propranolol it is likely the cause.  It is not a usual side effect of this medication to  cause this and you are likely allergic to it. Stop taking the medication with your doctor about alternatives.

2nd time in 2months to break out in hives , narrowed source to my birth control. will a steroid shot and stopping the pills keep full blown hives away?

Yes: If the ocs are at fault then stopping the med should solve the problem. A short course of Prednisone such as a steroid dose pack will also help.

Basics:  Food or other sensitivities can develop on any day of your life &amp; would be expected to persist thereafter. It can be a food additive/seasoning/or the food itself. A diary to document exposures/reactions is often the best way to keep track of such a problem. There are skin/blood tests for some agents/foods but they are not always helpful/accurate.

got hives/angioedema same time as upper resp. virus. cleared in a wk w/ prednisone, allegra + zantac (ranitidine) - but awful acid reflux after stopping meds. huh?

Possibly steroids: effects, you might to continue ranitidine (zantac) for some more time, please contact your doctor and tell him/her your symptoms, good luck

i have been taking doxy 100 mg twice a day for 6 days. the course is 15 days. today, i have hives on my right upper arm and 2 on my back. stop?

Ask your doc!: Talk to your prescribing physician. Tell him/her what you've noted above. It may or may not be related. Understand why you're supposed to take that antibiotic for that period of time. Are you better? What about the infection getting worse? How about switching to another antibiotic. Could you tolerate development of antibiotic resistance, diarrhea & yeast infections? Talk to ur doc about ur options.

finished amoxicillin 2 days ago and now breaking out into random hives only on one side? is it related? the wheels do not go away/move from their spots but new ones pop up they tend to stop itching after a bit? they cluster in 2s but also appear solo?
