my blood preasure has been high all day it went from 189/133 to 159/105 now 158/90 i have been lying down for 4 hours and its still high i don't suffer with high blood pressure. what do i do?

See your Dr: Your blood pressures are high.  This could be due to hypertension or perhaps your BP machine is not working accurately.  I would see your Dr and get a reading there.  Cut back on the salt in your diet and avoid energy drinks or caffeine containing products until your pressures return to normal.

when i lay down my blood pressure is 116/ 77 , when i am sitting it goes up to 130/99 to 120/94 , its always normal while laying down , but when i am sitting it gets high, would this be hypertension?i didnt receive an answer ... thanks

Blood pressure: Normal blood pressure is systolic blood pressure less than 120 and diastolic less than 80. You would have an elevated systolic blood pressure and stage two hypertension with a diastolic blood pressure greater than 90.

See a doctor: Those values do not make sense. If anything your BP should be higher when you lie down. Have a doctor check it.

Simple is better: Fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain, and less salt.  The more processed the food is, the more likelihood is that it will contain salt and other preservatives that may adversely affect bp.  Also, increasing exercise and weight loss help.   If there is any question of sleep apnea, get tested.  That, too, can increase bp.

Not exactlly: Shortly after exercise, BP falls as you cool down. This is because your blood vessels dilated with exercise as you open vascular beds in your muscles and your total peripheral resistance falls. This is a short term effect and has no long term benefit for controlling hbp

Yes: A child can inherit the predisposition for high blood pressure, but the environment can help decrease the incidence of it showing up. Help your child to eat healthy to maintain normal weight and to decrease salt intake.

Unusual: This is certainly not what is expected! I am glad you are following your bp. It would help to know what the numbers are, what other meds you take (i see the list above). Depends: What med(s) are you on? Are you at maximum dose of each? How high is the blood pressure? Are you overweight? Are you diabetic? Docs have a number of different BP meds that work by different mechanisms; so they can change meds, increase doses, add another med. Exercise & eat healthful meals to attain proper weight & relieve stress.

Not if short: It should be safe if you keep it to only a few minutes at a time.
