Why?: Why this test? If you hope for any kind of answer you must describe precisely whatever symptoms  prompted the test. Note that if you have acute herpes for the first time the diagnosis cannot be made with a blood test because it will not turn pos for 2 or 3 weeks. Ask the Dr who ordered the test to explain what you have.

Depends on the test: A test for antibodies to the virus will be negative if the person acquired the infection very recently.

when u get tested for stud and came out negative does that mean you don't have herpes as well or is it a separate test  ?

Depends: You need to ask what was tested.  Sometimes your doctor only tests for some of the STDs.  Herpes frequently isn't tested unless you are having symptoms.  Each STD has a different test.  Some are tested by drawing blood and some by getting cultures of the cervix.  Best wishes!

HSV  contagious: Genital herpes most of the time is caused by an infection with HSV type 2, now more and more also with HSV type 1, coming from oral sex. Once an individual has been infected the virus harbors in that individual's tissues and every so often can cause an outbreak, e.g, cold sores  or blisters in the private area. The partner can get infected during skin-skin contact, even in the absence of blisters.

Herpes II: The only confirmatory test for herpes II is a blood test to see if antibodies to the virus are present.  If that was done, and was negative, the "irritation" may be coming from another type of infectious process.  See your gyn provider for an exam and culture.

: A negative result at 4 months is conclusive for HSV2, but not HSV1. Thirty percent of people with HSV1 never develop positive results with the standard blood tests.

Not likely: Chancroid has same presentation as herpes except it causes by bacteria instead of virus like herpes. If your doctor did culture or blood tests then it is not likeky a misdiagnosis.Call and discuss with your doctor aboput your concern.

GetToTheCoreOfTheSor: Genital sores can be caused by more than just Herpes!!I could list them, but many are rather obscure and are dealt with by specialists like rheumatologists.If I had persistent or recurring genital ulcers or blisters and I tested negative for the common things,I'd ask for a referral to a specialist if the doctor I was seeing
was stymied.No big rush,unless they hurt a lot or you feel generally funky

HSV blood test: There is controversy about whether and when to test people without symptoms for herpes. The test isn't perfect, and false or uncertain results occur from time to time, and most experts don't recommend it unless the risk is especially high. Probably a good idea if you have symptoms to suggest herpes or have had a partner known to have HSV2. Otherwise, usually not. Discuss with your doctor.
