Yes: Often  people with genital herpes  have no symptoms. These may appear long  after infection.  Blood studies and cultures from any blisters, ulcers or even skin cracks (fissures) will make the diagnosis.

Few days or...: A percentage of people that contract herpes never have an outbreak.  Or they may become infected, and experience their first outbreak months or years after exposure.  After initial exposure, some people experience flu-like symptoms, and within a few days begin to notice blister formation on the mouth or genital area.  It truly varies from person to person.  Could be a few days to a few years!

However, there are many possibilities.  Some people never experience active symptoms.

Recurrent blisters: Happen with herpes in most cases, if no active lesions it is more difficult to say.   Blood tests can show new or previous exposure.
HSV Type 1 lesions are usually less severe, (cold sores), very common. HSV Type 2 lesions are more severe and numerous, particularly with first outbreak.  Anti viral medication can help decrease recurrences.
