Maybe it does: When you eat a big meal, you divert blood to digestive tract where it's most needed. Your heart responds by pumping more blood. It has 2 ways to do this: increase its stroke volume and increase its rate. If you have heart disease and can't increase your sv, the rate will have to increase. If you're healthy, most likely your observations were random and not consistently reproducible.

See your family doc: Depending on how long it is after eating, it could be mild dropping of your blood sugar which would cause anxiety and your heart rate to go up. Error?: Hi. 300 beats/min is not compatible with consciousness. Are you sure about the rate? Check; something's not right there. Verapamil will slow cardiac conduction in some cases.  I suspect you can ride, but ask the doctor treating you for your rate/rhythm disturbance.

Heart rate : It is a reaction that some people may have.  You should try and avoid these foods.  If the food is very spicy this can be induced by a reaction to the burning and your body producing a response to a percieved injury.
