Work up: You would certainly need a complete workup including likely a echocardiogram, EKG, holter monitoring to yield the diagnosis and appropriate treatment.  In select cases of cardiac arrythmia unresponsive to medications, ablation therapy may be indicated.

what are the rules about sleep position after spinal surgery? will i need to sleep on my stomach after spinal surgery? i'm concerned since that's the only position i absolutely cannot sleep in because it aggravates my heart.

No, : No, you will not have to sleep on your stomach. In fact, it is preferred that you do not sleep on your stomach after spine surgery. Pressure on the disk spaces and on the bone in your back is greater when you sleep face down, than on your back. In fact, pressure on the disks is the least when you are lying on your back compared to standing or sitting. You may find it painful to lie directly on your back after surgery if the incision is directly at midline. In this case, it is very easy to use a few pillows to prop you up on one side so that the pressure is not directly on your incision.

spinal surgery with a lung collapsed anemia & blood clot in heart. cant catch breath after 3 steps.lots of tests. heart & lungs fine. extreme faitigue. heart doc says its chronic faitigue.have no life.lots of faitigue +other symptoms. help  what meds?

Deconditioning: Is likely contributing to your extreme fatigue. Gradual physical therapy should be part of your recovery routine aside from possible medicine adjustments as needed. You suffered life threatening complications following your surgery ( somewhat typical otherwise) and  time should be allowed for recovery.

my grandson is 7 and was diagnosed with bicuspid aorta valve at age 4. he is most active and doing great and is examined annually. what are the chances he will live a normal life with no heart problems and no need for valve surgery?

Good but complex ?: He needs to periodically monitored by initially a pediatric then adult cardiologist as he ages.  Serial echocardiographic evaluation will be performed to monitor the valve .  He should enjoy a full & active life.  However , most individuals with this will require valve replacement at some point in their lives (usually later in most cases).

To prevent a-fib, you doctor may give you magnesium and potassium after surgery to replace your electrolytes.  Also, if you were on a beta-blocker medication prior to surgery, those will be restarted.  If not, your doctor may temporarily place you on a beta or calcium channel blocker.

Yes: The cause of coronary artery disease is formation of plaques in the vessels. The best way to avoid it is to prevent the formation of the plaques in the first place. This can be done by controlling blood pressure, controlling diabetes, control cholesterol, watching weight, exercise, and stop smoking.
