Sorry: If something is causing you damage, do away with it or decrease it to an amount that is tolerable.  You may have to find a decaf that you like or dilute out your coffee.  If it is from a carbonated beverage, you should work on changing to another non-caffiene drink.

Yes: It can be , my advise do not consume more than two cups a day, than way u can avoid the palpitation and still enjoy  u coffee.

A : A variety of abnormal heart rhythms, or arrhythmias, can cause palpitations. Most causes are not dangerous, and the most common are premature atrial or ventricular contractions (pacs and pvcs). This is when there is an extra beat from the upper or lower chamber of the heart, which can be sensed as an extra beat or a skipped beat. But often times people cannot feel them at all. There are a whole variety of other arrhythmias though, and many require specific treatment by a cardiologist.

If you have had palpitations for years, they are most likely not serious but you should be evaluated if you have not already done so. It would be important for your doctor to exclude potentially dangerous things. If you know caffeine is a trigger for your palpitations, then avoiding it is the right thing to do. Other common triggers are alcohol, dehydration, and fatigue. If your palpitations are frequent and bothersome, your doctor may be able to prescribe a medication to help minimize them. Of course, this requires an accurate diagnosis first.

Time to see a doctor: A young woman who feels palpitations should be checked by her primary care doctor (family medicine or internal medicine, not Ob-Gyn) to make sure her body is ok from a general check-up point of view, and to listen to her heart. It could be a thyroid hormone problem, or could be that her heart is beating irregularly for another reason, etc... Additionally, a cardiologist can also evaluate.

Nicotine &amp; xanthines: Nicotine (in tobacco) is actually a neurotransmitter &amp; is used by the body to tell the heart &amp; vessels how to adapt. Methylxanthines (like caffeine) can interfere w/ this system, just like taking a mega-hit of nicotine (by smoking). Excessive caffeine intake is associated with (but debated as to cause of) atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart beat that can cause palpitations. Smoking helps no 1!

Palpitations: Palpitations have many causes from anxiety through anatomic and physiologic abnormalities. The feeling of bounding usually relates to the volume of blood pumped with each palpitation. There is no simple single answer for the question. If you're bothered by the feeling should consult a dr. To see if the problem can be clarified.

See your doctor : You may want to see your doctor for an evaluation.  Talk to your doctor about your concerns. Your doctor can obtain a history and check your heart. This may alleviate your anxiety or fears. You may also want to avoid the use of caffeine. Also, if you smoke, talk to your doctor about quitting. Best wishes!
