Avoid certain acts: Symptoms of "brain freeze" can occur after eating ice cream or other cold foods. It probably relates to stimulating the trigeminal nerve which controls sensation in the face and large areas of the head. Avoiding the activities that bring on the symptoms is probably the best bet.

Need follow up: This does not need to be treated,it needs to be investigated as to the cause. See your doctor. In the meantime,OTC pain meds. But see your doctor.

: Have you ever suffered from migraines.  Perhaps you should schedule an appointment with a Neurologist.  Tests, scans might be able to detect what is causing your problem.

If you have been getting headaches for a while, this is almost certainly the cause, particularly if otherwise normal. You may have some medication overuse/rebound headache as well from taking many otc pain meds. A headache neurologist should be able to help you with the appropriate meds.

Until you see the doctor try using combinations of two medicines together..Chosing from tylenol, (acetaminophen) asspirin or naprosyn along with caffeine.

You need to be seen: This sounds like it could be a migraine headache but without more information and a thorough exam, there is no way to tell.  You should be seen by a physician to make sure this is not something more serious and to prescribe appropriate treatment.
It is especially important if you have never had a headache like this before.

Brain Freeze, too: Brain freeze from ingesting ice cold foods is common &amp; multifactorial, as are headaches.  Such pain can originate from the skin, fat, muscle, blood vessels or within the cranium from great venous sinuses, their tributaries, the dura and its arteries, the falx cerebri, &amp; the large arteries at the base of the brain (all of which have pain fibers).  Also, migraines can trigger from alcohol and foods.
