dear doc,
my son 7yrs sweats excessively, especially on his head. what could be the cause?

Sweating: Persistent sweating around the head and neck, if not explainable by environmental factors or the taking of medication like Tylenol, is seen in infections, certain malignancies, some blood dyscrasias and thyroid overactivity. If fevers are also occurring, this would also point to infection or inflammatory processes. Your pediatrician would perform an examination and order appropriate tests.

2 year old son sweats on his head easily a lot and skin is clammy but is healthy otherwise. what can cause this?

See cardiologist: Some children sweat more than others depending sweat glands number and activity but they are healthy .The child with breathing or heart problem  also sweat lot or for  other health reason .As your child is healthy ,to be at ease , get him checked by your doctor and cardiologist , if need get treated in time  .

Hair: Yes, thyroid issues may cause hair loss and you should ask your doctor to measure thyroid hormones and thyroid antibodies. If they are all normal I would recommend an appointment with a dermatologist.

what could possibly be the cause of waking up every morning with the back of my head drenched in sweat? would these be considered night sweats if the sweat is only on the back of my head? 31 year old woman have had this for a little over 2 years?

: "Nite head sweats" from gabapentin would be rather unique, and has yet to be reported. Probably normal: Not much.Perspiration can be normal even in an infant.If she is otherwise healthy-ok.

Sweaty child: 1-3 % of infant get sweaty heads when they nurse,eat,and sleep   It is probably under reported by parents . There is no know cause for Idiopathic hyperhidrosis and is probably a genetic trait in the families--ask your parents.
If the infant is developing normally by peds dev/charts they just watch. There are other causes ,but not enough room to discuss--talk with your Peds Doctor
