Likely wait...: Cancer screening is about the risk/benefit ratio. If you do not have a family history of early breast or ovarian cancer (brca1 or 2 mutations), getting a mammogram "too early" could cause more harm than good. Mammograms have a significant false positive rate which means you might undergo a unneeded procedure (biopsy) that could cause you harm (both physically and emotionally).

Gently: A mammogram can be done on any volume of breast tissue-big or small.  Even men can get one.  A good mammo technologist can be key in making this a positive experience.

Sounds too long: If you have new breast masses, you should have the mammogram +/- breast ultrasounds asap.  Ask your physician to call the mammogram center to see if s/he can get you in sooner.  Also, ask the mammography unit to put you on their wait lists in case any one cancels. I would also recommend seeing a breast surgeon for evaluation as well.

Yes: Unless there is a obvious mass in the breast, mammography is not done. If a 17 year old has a mass, then evaluation and possible biopsy would be a better choice.

Assuming: The second mammogram is a followup to your screening mammogram the answer is yes. The second mammogram will focus on an area that needs another view to see the breast tissue adequately or to workup an area of concern. Depending on what is being evaluated, an ultrasound may also be performed. Be sure to get it.

Yes: Yes, if they have the mammogram result from the previous mammogram- the radiology would compare the recent one with the previous one and see if there is anything changes. If you never have mammogram previously, then you mammogram now would be the baseline. If you had mammogram somewhere else- make sure you tell the radiology center that you had one before and where it was done.
