Yes, can grow very l: But usually irritating to skin, and usually results in a blocked oil gland. Will heal quickly after hair is liberated.

can hair grow over a cyst on the scalp? my 8 month old baby has raised bump on scalp that is hard to see because of hair. i'm not sure if it's just a skin irritation or a small cyst?

: Hair can grow over a cyst. It is not feasible to provide an opinion without examining the child. It does not seem to be an urgent issue and you could address it with the pediatrician at the next visit.
Make sure to get all the vaccinations for the child.

Rogaine, (minoxidil) Propecia: The only two hair growth products currently on the market with real clinical data to support their use are rogaine (minoxidil) (topical) and Propecia (oral). They work by different mechanisms, so I have my patients use both. Rogaine (minoxidil) is otc, Propecia requires a prescription. The downside is that insurance seldom pays for either one; but Propecia is about to go generic, which should lower the price.

Each phase has specific characteristics that determine the length of the hair. All three phases occur simultaneously; one strand of hair may be in the anagen phase, while another is in the telogen phase.

Probably: Superficial cuts on the scalp should not damage any of the hair follicles which would cause the hair to stop growing.  If the cut is deep to the second layer of skin (dermis), it is possible that the hair follicle is damaged and will not generate hair growth.

See Dermatologist: It could be hereditary. But, there could be underlying cause. So, first &gt; you should see a dermatologist --- he/she  will examine you and get blood tests. Then he/she will advise you.

This is a common misconception that many people have, if there is something that is causing you to have bald spots or damaged hair. I would advise you to visit your doctor to have a general physical exam and see if there is anything that might be causing this condition. They can do a history, physical and any lab tests
