See Specialist: If you have recurrent bouts of tonsilitis that require antibiotics, removing them could provide relief. Would make an appointment with an ENT specialist to get expert advice on whether you are a surgical candidate or not.  Good luck.

Needs antibiotics: This certainly sounds like a bacterial infection, usually steptococcus- I strongly suggest amoxicillin if she is not allergic to penicillin and also advise an clinic examination- she is most likely very contagious.

Tonsil: Sounds like tonsillar crypt infection. gargle with 1/2 tsp of salt or baking soda in glass of lukewarm water. If gets worse, may need antibiotics

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold virus, influenza (Tamiflu may be needed), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, is with moderate or high fever, or with much coughing or worrisome symptoms. Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can lessen pain.

Sounds like a virus: You are describing a upper respiratory infection. Many of these can last several weeks before your feel normal. It is also possible that you have caught a second one. Try some OTC sinus medication for the pressure and postnasal drip. See a doctor if things worsen.

Peroxide gargles: You can use half strength hydrogen peroxide gargles. This bubbles and washes out the tonsillar crypts.  Orajel and peroxyl are commercially available peroxide rinses.

Possible: Although it is more common to see strep infections when there is pus on the tonsils, a variety of infections can result in pus, including sexually transmitted infections.  However, these tend to be less common, but they certainly occur.  If you have had sexual relations with someone who you think may have an std, your risk goes up.  Any pus on the tonsils should be evaluated w/ a culture & treated.

Depends: It can be infection....bacterial/ viral. Can be simple chr infection of tonsil. Not knowing your age....mono possible. Without acute symptoms...not likely.
