Probably normal: If you are passing formed stools but more than once per day, it's probably normal. You can regularize your stools and make them soft by taking soluble fiber (citrucel, metamucil, etc) at least two tablespoons daily (add it to juice, or sprinkle on cereal) .

when laid down i can feel parts of my intestines filled with stool and gas which is painful, is this normal? after defecation, the lumps and pains go.

Pain is not normal : Being able to feel stool pass through your digestive tract is not a problem. This should not be painful however and is therefore abnormal.

Probably normal: a finger inserted deep into the vagina may feel the gut wall posteriorly (toward back) which may have stool in it. Anteriorly, toward front, one may feel the urinary bladder wall which may have urine in it. It may feel thick because the finger will feel the vaginal wall, the bladder wall and perhaps the inside wall of the abdomen. If any question, have gyn exam.
