NOT NECESSARY: In my opinion, prenatal vitamins are not needed prior to conception for 99% of healthy women. They do not increase fertility. The only vitamin that is needed prior to conception  and during is Folic Acid 1 mg daily..

It's fine: Most marketed prenatal vitamins are good to take, whether this one, or just the store brand at target or the local pharmacy. Just make sure it has Folic Acid (i generally recommend 800 mcg or more, this one has 1 mg which is great).

CONTACT OB/GYN: Any time a woman is pregnant, the best person to consult about taking anything, "organic" or otherwise is her doctor. He/she will know the details of that particular pregnancy and what is safe for the pregnant patient to consume. In general dha is an important supplement when nursing the young infant and several companies make the supplement, but your friend should review with her doctor.

Omega 3s: Both epa and dha are long chained fatty acids mainly found in fish. They provide much needed omega 3 which is said to improve heart health along with many other health benefits. Omega three is believed to reduce inflammation in body and brain and is good for memory and thought to prevent dementia. Along with fish, omega 3 can be found in free-range eggs. Look for % of omega three on carton.

Good: Dha is believed to be important in fetal brain development so i believe that fish oil supplements taken in moderation might help and will not hurt.
