had cellulitis 6/1, treated 1g rocephin, 10days bactrim ds 2 pills bid. on 7/13, i learned i had gonorrhea, sex 13days prior, did he give gonorrhea?

Probably yes: You can be 100% certain you did not have your gonorrhea when you were treated with ceftriaxone (Rocephin) and bactrum; that treatment for sure would have cured gonorrhea. Therefore, you had to catch it sometime later. If your only partner or exposure since then was the one 7/13, that's when you caught it. That partner needs exam, testing, and treatment for gonorrhea.

i started taking bactrim at 8pm tuesday and took an hiv, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia test at 4 pm on wednesday. my tests just came back negative, could bactrim have affected the results?

: Bactrim is entirely ineffective against syphilis and cannot affect that result, no matter how much of the drug or how long you take it. It might or might not cure gonorrhea or chlamydia, but not that quickly. Your test results are completely reliable.

Basically no.: Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (bactrim) is ineffective against chlamydia and there is a wide range of antibiotics that can be given for gonorrhea, but Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is not one of them. Since some gonorrhea is resistant to antibiotics, only a physician can determine which one to use. Recommended therapy for chlamydia is Doxycycline or Azithromycin with fluorinated quinolones also effective.

Ok to retest: After three weeks, a repeat test for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia can reassure you that you don't have these infections, however men typically don't get tested for other STDs that you may still have, such as Hep C, HIV, Herpes, Syphilis, Trichomonas, and HPV. Make sure your testing is thorough and get the HPV vaccine.

No...: No. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is not effective in treating gonorrheae.  Moderately high dose treatment with azthromycin or fluoroquinones like ciprofloxacin or ofloxacin are best  treatments.

Gonorrhea treatment: Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim®) is not recommended or reliable against gonorrhea. It might work but is dangerously risky; you need proper gonorrhea treatment with an injection of ceftriaxone plus either azithromycin or doxycycline. Contact your doctor immediately to arrange treatment. Also make sure all recent (1-2 mo.) sex partners are tested and treated. Good luck!
