Above normal: It is in the prediabetes range, slightly above normal. However, one blood sugar doesn't make a diagnosis.  If you're overweight and have a positive family history of diabetes, however, you need to lose weight through diet and exercise and get some preventative diabetes education.

i am a diabetic who exercises every day, for about 1 hour. why is my blood glucose high after exercise? it is around 160 to 180.

Not unuual: If blood sugar at 100 to 250 mg/dl (5.6 to 13.9 mmol/l). For most people, this is a safe pre-exercise blood sugar range. Exercise makes muscles need more energy to perform. Without any food prior to exercise sugar in the form of lactose is secreted by the muscle. If this sugar is not used up during exercise, the sugar is still in the blood for hour or so after exercise.

my wife has a really bad problem with bad breath. i believe it is the result of her diebetes  what can she do for it? glucose - high 200s.   a1c 11.5

See PCP AND dentist : Her blood sugar levels are roughly 2x what they should be--indicating poor control of her diabetes. She needs to be seen by her pcp to get it under check. Diabetes can cause ketoacidosis, which can result in malodorous breath (and death). Once the sugar is better controlled, see the dentist to determine if she has gum disease--another common source of halitosis. The two diseases are interrelated.

Back to basics: High fiber, low fat, very low saturated fat, very low sugar (simple carbs), no juice, no soda, no gatorade.  Limit sweets a lot.  Eat regular meals spaced evenly through the day - do not eat most of your calories at dinner.  Get 22-30 min of exercise (a brisk walk) every day.  Avoid packaged foods, avoid eating out, eat fresh food that you prepare from scratch most of the time.  You can do it.

102: A bit high but not too bad.
Check your blood sugar before breakfast - check again before lunch. If your blood sugar is higher before lunch your doctor should prescribe some diabetes medication for you.

my mean plasma glucose is 111; hba1c is 5.3. my doctor said i don't have diabetes, but isn't my glucose high?

No: A1c between5.7 to 6.5 indicated pre diabetes.
&gt; 6.5 indicates diabetes. Having said that diabetes is more like a gradient disease- by that what i mean is with an a1c of 5.3 your risk of diabetes is  slightly higher than a person with a1c of 4.8.
Life style modifications with diet and exercise will decrease this risk.

cbc panels for the last 4 months. the dr concerned bc my bicarbonates keep getting lower. last was 12. now having foamy urine. do i need to be concerned? history of excessive use of aspirin due to back pain. blood test normal but high glucose high

Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, it would help to know why were these tests done? What symptoms do you have? How high was glucose?

Need to examine: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it would have helped to have the actual values. She seems to have iron deficiency anemia and vitamin D deficiency. Both can be easily corrected. For glucose and TSH do need values. Talk to the doc who ordered tests.
