hi, is it possible or normal to get your period while in the middle of your pill pack (ie not taking the placebos), with all the associated pain and symptoms, 10 days before i'm even supposed to come on my period? occasionally there is spotting.

Irregular bleeding: Anyone can have spitting anytime in your cycle, with or without BCP’s, however, if you are experiencing pain and other symptoms, you should check in with your OB-Gyn to see if there is a reason for this early ‘period,’ especially if it is lasting the normal amount of time as a ‘regular’ menses would be

took 2 packs tri spritec in row but still got period 8 days now.will i still get period when stop active pill this saturday? i was hoping.

BTB: Breakthrough bleeding is probably what you had. You may still get your withdrawal bleeding . You may need also a pregnancy test to rule out a pregnancy . Call your doctor by phone to manage the condition. May need different kind of bcp for the next time.

i switched my bcp to loestrogen. i just started my third pack but didn't get a period last week during the sugar pill week. is that normal?

Possible: It is not uncommon to have a very light period when taking ocp's, and to occasionally skip a period while taking the pill is not abnormal.  You should take a pregnancy test to rule out contraceptive failure.

took 2 weeks of bcp and then the first week of a new pack of pills , but stopped so that i could get period. will this effect me getting my period?

Proper use: Not sure why you would take the pills like that? Simply start a pack. Take one per day until you finish the pack. Your period will come at the end of the pack. After finishing the pack you start the next one. If you deviate from this plan you will cause irregular menstrual bleeding and you may not be protected against pregnancy.

called my dr and she said to continue the pills. i thought the bleeding was stopping but it came back. should i still take the pills or stop to have a regular period and start a new pack, so i can get back on a regular schedule.

MD "straight talk": You need to call your treating MD to find out what to do next so that you do not throw a "curve" into his/her pill management plan by getting advice in this forum as an examination  has not been done here.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Unless you have missed a pill in this pack or have reason to believe you are pregnant, continue on to next pack after placebo week. Also be aware that your next period might be heavier than usual.

i never got my period on my "inactive" pills and i start my new pack today. is there a chance i will get pregnant?

Accepted Answer

Unlikely: If you have not missed any pills and have taken them correctly, your chance of pregnancy is less than 1%. You can check a home pregnancy test to be certain.  Not having a period is considered by most women to be a nice side effect of birth control pills.

Start the new pack: If this is a recurrent problem i would recommend you talk to your doctor about a change in pill- this shouldnt happen regularly. It's not worrisome if it happens once or twice. If it were me i would make sure i wasnt pregnant (take a home pregnancy test) and if the test is negative start a new pack of pills right away.

See below: Skipping the placebo or sugar pills is a. Effective way to skip a period. Chances of pregnancy do not increase just because you did this. Just make sure taking your pill well and not kissing doses. Every few months it is good to take a break and have a period so you don't have break through bleeding.

Break through: Any bleeding other than that which occurs during your placebo pills is considered break through bleeding.
