i have a mold allergy, how can i tell if my books have mold/spores? will i be able to see it?

Mould loves the damp: If you've stored your books improperly, you may have set yourself up for an environmental issue with mould. You can often find evidence of mould if you know what you're looking for. There are thousands of different kinds of moulds, and some indeed will grow on paper-look for the signs of dusty spores, fungal elements, even the 'smell'. Bring a sample to a librarian or try a UV lamp if ur not sure.

dark patch on skin around waist since few months. approx 1x2 ". not much itchy. not really raised but bit rough to touch. unsightly. fungal? allergy?

Several possibilites: Contact allergy and fungus are both possible, but usually are itchy.  Contact allergy is usually due to nickel if directly under the snap on the front of your pants.  Acanthosis nigricans also possible.

im allergic to mold. this morning, i threw away a bag of forgotten oranges and there was a small cloud of mold spores that went in the air. i am now coughing quite a bit. can i take more than 1 allergy pill in a day? i take one regularly at night?

Antihistamine : Take Benadryl as directed every 6 hours,avoid driving and open windows.  There may be some additional sources of mold in your house. Clean thoroughly and watch for signs of distress. If these occur, please see urgent care or the ED.

could people with asthma or allergies be more prone to fungal infections?

Sometimes: People with asthma or allergies, who have mild symptoms and healthy immune systems probably are not more prone to fungal infections. Patients with lots of asthma/allergy symptoms, especially if they have weakened immune systems, can have problems with airborne fungi. Such patients may have worse symptoms when exposed to fungi such as aspergillus, blastomyces, or coccidioides.

can palpitations be caused by mold spores? or allergies? i'm trying to figure it out b/c i was woken up out of my sleep with palpitations.

No: Although mold spores can produce allergens and mycotoxins, I am not aware of any evidence that they directly cause palpitation.  On the other hand, if you have asthma and are exposed to molds you are allergic to, the attack may lead to cardiac palpitation.

if my grandchild, 2, is getting every cold around and always has a runny nose but is otherwise well, should i worry? allergy? mould spores?

Worry:no(maybe): Children , especially when newly exposed to others in day-care for instance, are going to get "every cold and runny nose" that the others have.This is normal and nothing to alarmed about.If the child is very ill please see your dr asap.

i use miconazole it causes my skin to be red, is  this is a sign of allergy to miconazole?how to differentiate between fungal and bacterial jock itch?

It is typically: not easy to tell between the two mentioned, as both can reach a point of severity that would make the rash/ skin reaction appear similar.  Both can become pustular and/or weepy, though fungal infections are typically less inflammatory appearing than bacterial. for the last couple of weeks i've been itching all over. the itching comes and goes. there is no visible rash accept that of my scratching. i've tried anti-fungal creams as well allergy medication, but nothing works. what could be causing this?

Doctor can examine: If itching is just from sensitive skin or dry skin, such as eczema, then one can use an over-the-counter cream such as CeraVe, Cetaphil, or Eucerin. Adding hydrocortisone cream for 1 week will help. Taking OTC antihistamines like Claritin (loratadine) or Zyrtec helps too. Excess itching may also be due to an internal disorder, such as liver problems or intestinal parasites. One's doctor can help.

i've had chronic sinusitis for many years. 2  fess surgeries, allergy shots & all the antiinflammatory/histamines, nasal rinse have not worked. maybe balloon sinuplasty, or could it be a fungal prob?

Have u tried : A combination of singular, Flonase at night and an antihistamine all together?   Its likely not a fungal problem but likely an anatomy issue.  I'm not aware of the procedure but you sound like u need relief.  Oh yeah, what about an air purifier?
