Freckles after sun: You dio not necessarily "freckle" more if you have had a sunburn in the past. Cumulative sun exposure, including sunburns as well as your baseline complexion/ethnicity, influences the amount of sun damage (age/brown spots) evident in your skin.

Doesn't matter: Please see your dermatologist for evaluation and to discuss treatment options. You probably need a biopsy.

Burn and cancer risk: It would be wise to have a doctor evaluate your freckles because burns can cause skin cancers and only by having the burn looked at can I be sure you indeed have freckles.  Maybe you are seeing tiny moles?

Peeling may injure: You. Keep sunburn cool w moist cool/cold compresses.  Avoid alcohol containing products.  Break off pieces of aloe vera plant ; apply sap to skin.  Consider non-steroidal anti-inflammatory meds to reduce pain.  Don’t yank off peeling skin or burst blisters. Seek med care for severe pain, fever, lack of improvement of sxs w/i several days or if a large surface area is blistered. Drink h2o.

Yes: This is called actinic damage.  It can be treated in a number of ways.  Consult an experienced plastic surgeon in your area for advice on how.

Yes!: There are two basic types of freckles, "simple freckles" and "sunburn freckles", and this should help answer your question. Freckles are more common in those with light complexions, and in those who get sunburns. Moderate your sun exposure, wear a hat, and always wear good, and good amounts, of sunscreen!

DON'T SUNBURN!: freckles can result from sun exposure, particularly with light fair-skinned people.  (are you an Irish redhead?). You will get more each time you get a sunburn, some will fade over to,e, others will be permanent. The important thing is totally avoid SUNBURNS. You put yourself at risk for melanoma, which can look like a freckle, but be the worst type of skin cancer.

Derm eval yet?: These lesions need to be visualized &amp; a history needs to be obtained in order to make an accurate diagnosis.  Sometimes lab testing or biopsy is necessary.

Wait until your: sunburn heals, and if the freckle persists, show it to your doctor.  Any pigmented skin lesion is suspicious for a melanoma, especially if it is new or enlarging.

Hard to predict: It is well known that sunburn and excess sun exposure increase the risk of skin cancer. he lifetime risk of skin cancer is 20% and it is estimated that by age 65, 40% of individuals will have acquired at least one lesion.  Fortunately, most of these are not melanomas, which carry the worst prognosis. I recommend using sunscreen on a regular basis to minimize further risk and avoid tanning booths.
