You would need to : Be evaluated, so many things can cause swelling. The fact it is unilateral adds to the differential diagnosis a blood clot. Usually, in a blood clot the calf would be swollen or painful. (Though, doesn't always have to be)

Purple leg swelling: With no injury, it maybe venous stasis (lymph), try elevation and compression hose.  If the symptoms are deep in the joints you should likely consider some arthritic process.

i am currently taking ampheta s/combo and both of my ankles and feet are swelling especially my left. is the medication causing it? thank you

Doubtful: I am not familiar with this drug but assume it is an amphetamine.  if it is this is not causing the swelling and you need to see your doctor to do blood tests and see what is happening.  it could be a low protein in the blood, kidney or heart problem.  It needs evaluation

Visit a doctor : There are so many things that cause swollen feet. Try some simple things like elevation, light compression and watching salt intake. Follow up with your doctor for full evaluation and treatment to make sure nothing serious is going on.

There : There are certainly other drugs that work like Lasix (furosemide) and that are much stronger/potent. You should talk to your doctor about alternatives, but of course, you must keep in mind your overall health condition and what you can or can't handle for example due to heart failure, kidney failure, or liver failure..... In any event, you should record and limit your fluid intake daily based on your doctor's assessment. And finally, don't forget to elevate your legs as much as possible and wear the support stockings.

Complicated: A little unusual to say that you feet/ankles are painful with swelling...swelling is common but often painless. Most serious causes of swelling would be heart failure (unusual at your age), kidney, liver disease. Could be problems with veins (poor valves causing sluggish return of blood to heart). Reviewed your meds...see no reason to suspect them. Need good evaluation...start with primary care

You need exam: The description you are giving is enough that I would recommend that you get an exam done today.

Sometimes low platelets can cause a condition similar to what you are describing.
