Not necessarily: It sounds like these acidic and irritating foods may be just irritating your airways. This doesn't necessarily mean that you're allergic to them, although you should probably still avoid them or pre-treat with your asthma inhaler prior to indulging. See an allergist to be properly tested to ensure this isn't an allergy that is emerging and proceed as they suggest.

Unusual but anything: In theory almost any food can cause an allergic reaction -- which includes asthma symptoms. But most mild food allergic reactions aren't so severe. See a board certified  allergist  if you have had symptoms. . They can easily help you pinpoint the cause.

Omega 3 fatty acids: If you have food allergies avoiding those foods is critical to avoiding acute asthma attacks as well as hives & anaphylaxis. 1-2% of my patients find that avoiding dairy helps. There is increasing scientific data that omega-3 fatty acids (in fish, flaxseed & borage oil), vitamin d & quercetin supplements are useful. Vitamin e and c do not appear to help.

Athletic asthma: There's no magic food. You already have an inhaler for the acute episodes; if your pulmonologist offers you low-level daily maintenance inhaled glucocortoicoids, by all means go for it. Stay very well hydrated and think about standing on the sidelines if it's really cold. I'm very glad you're pursuing fitness activities. Good luck.

No, it is fine: Chinese food is just fine for asthma patients, as long as they are not allergic to something in a particular dish, because food allergies can sometimes cause asthma symptoms. The chinese food, of course, should be prepared in a healthy manner, without much fat nor excess salt. There are over 1 billion chinese people in the world, and they seem to do alright eating their meals.

Probably not: However, a large study showed that children or teens who had 3 or more fast food meals a week had an increased risk of severe seasonal allergies, asthma and eczema.   It also showed that those who ate more fruit had a lower risk.

No specific foods: There is no age of the child listed, but in general, no foods are harmful or helpful for children with asthma.  Obviously, avoid any foods your child has been shown to be specifically allergic to by his physician.    Some general nutritional factors have been shown to be important in asthma, particularly obesity.  Vitamin d deficiency may also contribute to worsening asthma control.

Allergies..:: The only foods to avoid are foods that the child is allergic to that trigger bronchospasm or anaphylaxis.

Accepted Answer

Need to identify foo: If you are allergic to certain foods, eating them may trigger asthma. Sometimes the ingredient may not be obvious (preservative etc) and you may need to have an allergy workup to find out.  Reflux disease can also trigger asthma. The best way is to identify what the food trigger is followed by avoidance.
