i have recently been put onto fluanxol. can i take paracetamol or codeine with it? unable to take ibuprofen due to drug interactions with other medication i am on?

Not recommended: Fluanxol is an antypsychotic that may interact with codeine and unless specifically prescribed by your treating GP or psychiatrist would recommend abstaining from self treating, but rather reporting to one of your physicians your symptoms so that they can make proper recommendations with details of your condition in hand.

Fluanxol: Fluxanol is not approved for use in the US. It's half life after a dose is 35 hours-- that is 1/2 of the medication is gone after 35 hours, Half of what's left in the system is gone in another 35 hours, etc. Your pharmacist can give you more information about this medication.

Yes: Yes. It is a thioxanthine derivative and is a typical antipsychotic marketed outside the us. It's other name is flupenthixol and it may be taken with valium.

Drug interactions: Check drug or food interactions. This drug is not approved in US. Common drug interaction are anticholinergic meds (like diphenhydramine), tricyclics (like amitriptyline), and possibly SSRIs (like citalopram). Consult your prescribing provider.

Not specifically.: You can only gain weight if you eat. The medication can make you feel better so that you feel more like eating but it does not specifically make you gain weight. If you take the medication and watch your diet and do some regular exercise you should counteract the effect of any weight gain.

Menstrual disturbanc: Menstrual disturbances are reported in  1 to 10% of those on Epitec (lamotrigine) &amp; Zyptomil (escitalopram) , 0.01 to 0.1 % on Seroquel and none were reported with lithium per Drugs.Com.
