using flonase for rhinitis. taking oral pred. lost my sense of smell and taste.  understand this can be a side effect.  not acceptable.  advise?

Rinse with Saline: You can also try taking a nonsedating antihistamine like generic Zyrtec or Claritin.   If you continue the Flonase I would suggest rinsing with the nasal saline afterwards

: While it could cause some dryness of the nasal membranes, I haven't seen loss of smell but it's best to use the lowest amount of sprays that control symptoms. Many people have used such corticosteroid nasal spray long-term without problems. Your pharmacist may have more information about this question.

Extremely uncommon: A more likely scenario is that the medication isn't working well and you have swollen nasal turbinates. Swollen nasal turbinates block air laden with odors from reaching your organ of smell, the olfactory nerve, in the roof of your nose. And if you can't smell your sense of taste will be compromised. Have you seen an ENT specialist or an allergist?

for couple weeks now my urine has a chips like smell.i did eat chips but not everyday and the smell is still there.with my normal medication the only other meds i'm using is flonase for my sinus.using it for over a month.would like advice please?

More water: Drink enough water every day so that your urine is mostly colorless.

No, don't use it: Get a new one,  fungus can grow easily on steroid sprays, keep using the saline nasal washes, if you don't improve on flonase OTC, you need to get seen, mind you read the labels carefully on how to use it

i have been having allergies really bad this week. i have been taking zyrtec and mucinex d since last sunday. friday i added generic flonase. i have not had any fever at all.  yesterday afternoon i noticed a loss of smell. i know there are reports of others saying theyve lost smell and taste while on flonase. i also know that is a symptom of covid. from what ive read and heard, if this was covid id feel a lot worse and have fever.  what are your thoughts?

Trauma, infection: Complete loss of the sense of smell can follow certain upper respiratory infections
trauma can impact the nerves from the olfactory system with loss of smell.  Sometimes the loss is partial with sensitivity to certain smells and loss of others.  Check in with your otolaryngologist for these.

After the resolution of long standing Cold/Congestion or Allergic Rhinitis; one gets sense of smell back .
