If you have given conservative treatment options a good trial to see if your anal fissure will heal and it is not getting beter, then it is time to see your surgeon to discuss surgical options. There are surgical options to help you if you have reached the point that you can't heal the fissure nonsurgically and are willing to have surgery for this.

May need surgery: You should be seen by a colorectal surgeon. This could be a sign of something else. If itbis chronic fissure, myou may need a sphincterotomy, a surgery where a short segment of the sphincter muscle is cut.

A cup of standard: Brown beans has 12 grams of fiber. While the brown beans will not heal your fissure they can help with constipation (as long as you hydrate well enough). By not having large, hard, dry feces being passed -it gives the fissure a chance to heal without being split back open again.

Keep stools regular and soft with fiber in diet,drinking enough fluids and taking stool softeners if needed to avoid straining at stool. For painful thrombosed hemorrhoid or nonhealing fissure see a proctologist or colorectal surgeon for treatment.

Nitroglycerin: If you have already tried taking stool softeners, fiber, sitz baths, and applying antibiotic ointment to the fissures and they are still coming back, you may want to ask your doctor if nitroglycerin ointment applied to the area is an option for you.  It has been shown to be very effective in healing chronic fissures for good.

Common causes of itchiness include aggressive cleaning of the perianal skin, dairy products, caffeine containing foods and certain fruits.  The common diagnosis is pruritis ani.  Some diseases such as lichen sclerosis can also cause itching. Biopsies help determine if there is an underlying cause of the itching.

Nothing : Just make sure your baby is not constipated because it will cause pain with bowel movement and make the anal fissure bigger. You may see some blood streaks in the stools at times. As long as it is not grose blood w fever, abdominal distention, fussiness, feeding problem...If it is. Go to er. A lot of babies are born with anal fissures. Not to worry  unless with other signs and symptoms as above, ok?
