Pretty good.: Fibroscan for hepatic fibrosis is a good test. For cirrhosis the sensitivity of the test ( ability to detect disease when it is actually present) is about 90% and the specificity (ability to exclude disease when it is not present) is also about 90%. In some clinical cases a biopsy is still required.

Why did you get the 2 tests? Have you discussed this with your ordering doctor? Research has shown Fibroscan accuracy in assessing lower degrees of liver fibrosis (F1-F2) is not as reliable compared to diagnosing advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis (F3/F4). The makers of FibroTest state it has the same diagnostic value as a 25 mm biopsy, while being noninvasive and easily repeatable.

Hard to say: As this is only one of many tools to assess for liver disease, more specifically fibrosis.  Be aware, that 90-95% of healthy persons without liver disease have a fibroscan score of 5.3

Can be: Fibroscan is a type of ultrasound, where liver stiffness ( how much scarring) is measured without need for liver biopsy.  This is helpful in detecting amount of scarring in patient various type of chronic liver disease. This is routinely done in other parts of the world except usa, because it hasn't been approved by fda.
