Likley not: Its extremely unlikely to get fever from simply a sprained finger unless there is a cut or abrasion at the site of injury.

Probable infection: Fever with chills is an indicator of infection, it could some times be an indicator of bacteria getting into the blood stream. The source of infection needs to be found and treated, see your physician ASAP.

Meds you are on now: First would be any meds you take now for any chronic medical conditions.  Next, fever/pain reducer is always nice to have around (Acetaminophen or an NSAID like ibuprofen...if you do not have reasons not to take these meds or allergy to these meds). Anti Diarrhea like immodium can be helpful with change in location leading to very different diet.  May take your GI system time to adjust.  Dr R

Possible pneumonia: It is likely that you are developing a secondary bacterial infection in your lungs. This may happen following a common cold if your immune system is suppressed. I recommend you see your doctor for an examination and possibly antibiotics

Splinter: This would be unusual. Of course, there is the possibility that the initially undiscovered splinter caused a skin infection that triggered the fever. However, in the absence of any signs of infection at the site, this would be unlikely.  The more common cause would be a viral illness, or possibly a bacterial illness. I recommend consulting with your pediatrician about the fever.

Getting new nails: People can get new or partially new nails after an infection or other stressful event one's body. The new nails should be connected under the old nails at the base of the nails. Sometimes a stressful event was just stressful enough to slow nail growth for a week or two... and then one might see a depressed line across each nail that eventually grows out. If worried, can show nails to one's doctor.

Headache, Fever: Headache with and/or without fever can be from many causes: sinus congestion/infection, allergies, vision issues, dental cause, enlarged tonsils/adenoids with sleep problems, migraine, ear issues, etc, etc. He needs a thorough evaluation, testing, and if needed appropriate referral. Keep a headache diary and ....Check with his pediatrician.

Yes: Particularly if that is where you were scratched by a cat.  If this is the case, see your doctor and get treated.
