noticed that my meatus doesnt fully open when i urinate (man). it seems like the urine comes out the top and the bottom but not the middle. carefully opened it and cant see any obstruction. urine stream is straight. no pain. 
is this normal?

Urinary obstruction: If you're able to urinate without difficulty, it should not be a problem and it is not likely that you have an obstruction. I suspect this will resolve on its own.

i am a 23 year old female. i was wondering if it was normal for my urine stream to be very strong?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily: As long as you have no burning when urinating or have red color (blood?) or other dark color or frequency of urination I see no need to be overly concerned. If you do have any of the above, make an appointment with your family physician. If by "strong" you mean malodorous it could be from the food you eat like asparagus.

You might have: Bladder infection or urethritis, inflammation of your urinary passage.  You need to see a doctor for a urine test before it gets worse.

The : The only way to be sure of the status of your urine is to have a formal urinalysis(ua) done by your doctor. Multiple things are screened for in a ua including protein, glucose, nitrites, white blood cells etc. Your doctor will be able to interpret the results and decide on additional testing. You may need an urologist evaluation in order to determine if there are any abnormalities of your urinary tract, which would explain the change in your stream.

Stricture: Weak or split urinary stream can be due to urethral stricture.  Occasional split stream, which resolves as you continue to urinate is, one the other hand, common.  I would suggest you see a urologist for evaluation.

See doctor: As long as you are hydrating well you should be urinating fine at your age. So give a good history and see doctor for exam

Be seen: That is generally due to an abnormality of the urethra, such as adhesions.  Your physician can advise you as to the best course of action.

Varies: It depends on whether you ate them with fatty food (absorption slowed down) or just by themselves and in what quantity. Earliest it would show up in your urine would be approx 4-8 hours and the average it would remain there would be  48 hours. Ingesting large quantity could mean--potentially- a test could remain positive at upwards six or more days though unlikely.

Cloudy urine: This can be due to dehydration, but commonly is due to the sudden change in the pH when it hits the toilet water causing materials otherwise soluble in urine to precipitate out. The may be multiple other causes, including infection, but if you are without symptoms would simply ignore this. Best wishes.

Always? How always?: As we age, men run risk of developing an enlarged prostate that may decrease urine flow and make it weaker than in one's youth. While it's part of aging, it's not normal if it bothers you. Your Family Doc or Urologist can discuss drug options to improve flow, perhaps surgery if necessary. In meantime, avoid antihistamines &amp; decongestants which can aggravate issue.
