Are you pregnant?: Your symptoms may indicate irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, a "dumping syndrome", maldigestion, pelvic inflammatory conditions, urinary tract infection, gallbladder or pancreatic disease. Since you're a woman, pregnancy is a possibility. Avoid gut stimulants (like caffeine), fizzy drinks, gas-forming foods, add water-soluble fiber, eat healthy, exercise, re-evaluate your meds & see your doctor.

See your doctor: Have you documented low blood sugars? Typically our female patients with diabetes have trouble with high blood sugars around the time of their periods. If you don't have diabetes or haven't had documented low blood sugars during your period, but suspect hypoglycemia, discuss with doctor. If you've lost consciousness you need medical attention. May have nothing to do with blood sugar.

Drug interaction: You had wine wihile taking Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) and Ibuprofen&gt;- Lucky you didn't OD from a drug-drug interaction.

PMS?: Most likely premenstrual syndrome. Over the counter Ibuprofen may help. Discuss this with your doctor.

Sexually active? If: Yes, take a home pregnancy test. Reasons for missed/late periods: low body weight, obesity, marked weight ^ or v, over-exercise, endurance athletics, breast-feeding, ^ stress, illness, eating disorders (bulimia or anorexia), anovulatory cycle (no egg released), travel, hormone irregularities, drug use, meds (i.e., birth control) or medical problems. #1 reason is pregnancy.

More info please: If you are on the patch, pill or ring, this could be perfectly normal. Or if you are pregnant (early) you will experience cramps with no bleeding. If you might be pregnant do a urine pregnancy test to find out.

If severe: or impacting your ability to function - that isn't normal. If that is the case - then please seek gynecological evaluation.

Not if really severe: Reasons for severe menstrual cramps can be endometriosis,  cervical stenosis, uterine fibroids, adenomyosis ; pelvic inflammatory disease.

Yes, it can: Can get better after childbirth or menopause. Sounds like you have dysmenorrhea.  Just painful periods.  You can take Ibuprofen 800 mg every 6 hours starting 24 hours before your period.  Naproxen 500 mg every 8 hours also helps.  Depending on your age oral contraceptive pills can lighten the period and ease the pain.  Also, the Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud can lessen the period and the pain.  Talk with your doctor.
