Eye condtion: If you are concerned about your vision please see an eye doctor right away.  Catching something early on is very helpful and important.  The fact that you put a light in your eye suggests you had some concerns about your eye in the first place.  Loosing color vision needs to be a assessed by your eye doctor.  Peace and good health.

Migraine: You probably have experienced an occipital migraine.  This is a benign issue affecting the circulation to the occipital lobe which might have been triggered by staring at the light.  These events go away quickly and cause no change in the eye vision or health.

Bright lights: can cause discomfort to one eyes when they are in a dark adapted state. But normally this would not cause permanent damage. Highly focused or powerful light sources (e.g. laser, sun, etc.) are known to cause permanent damage to the retina.

for a week, when i close my eyes to sleep, i have bright white flashes of light. the room is completely dark but my eyes see bright light when closed.

Flashing lights: in visual field indicates a need for you to see your opthalmogist (eye doc) ASAP.  It MAY be a retina that is detaching or it may be more minor.  Either way be safe.  Peace and good health.

Probably nothing: It is very unlikely you did any damage to your eye because of the flashlight unless you feel pain or a tearing like sensation or any other atypical symptoms and change in your vision then I would not worry at all.

Normal or disease: This could just be a normal response to bright light.  It could also be due to an eye problem such an inflammation in (called uveitis) - bright lights causes pain.  Most pain in or around an eye is from sinusitis or headache.  Pain reliever and decongestant should relieve it.  If it is getting worse, go see your doctor.

my eyes in bright light get very sensitive and tear up. other then sunglasses is there any drops i could use?

Sometimes the : Surface of the eye gets dried out , this can cause the symptoms that you are describing. The are other causes of light sensitivity. Try lubricating eye drops first to see if it helps, if no improvement you will need to have your eyes examined.
