Greasy stool?: Yes...Are you seeing oily stools with floating oil droplets (which implies fat maldigestion from use of dietary fat blockers, pancreatic and/or biliary disease, small bowel malabsorption, or excessive dietary fat intake) or mucusy stool (due to a range of conditions from inflammatory, infectious, ischemic, or "functional" due to rectal dysfunction, colon delay, or irritable bowel syndrome)?

Accepted Answer

No: but it could worsen your risk of diabetes, especially if you are obese.  You could also have an underactive thyroid or an anorectal problem.  You should probably have this symptom evaluated with an exam, and cut way back on sugar for your overall health.

Food or medicine: are you taking medication like peptobismol which will turn stool dark or black  If you have not enough acid iin your stomach then you may not digest food properly and you will have a change in bowels as well as increase in gas   Watch what you are eating and maybe do a day of just clear liquids to help it repair

Exam - Lab work: To know 'why?' you need to have an exam and lab work. It's possibly something a bit like IBS, but w/o other symptoms it would luckily be very mild/early. Intestines have glands that make mucus to avoid membrane irritation. See your Dr and follow advice.

Please see physician: Please see your primary care physician and may need surgical referral. Hemorrhoids and rectal prolapse may need to be excluded

Bleeding: Bleeding in the bowels cause black, tar-like stool.  This could be from a stomach ulcer.  If it's not black, and just dark brown its likely you are eating something that your body doesn't like!  Soy and dairy products can do this to some people.

i took lexapro, serotia and zolgen for 2 days and i want to stop it. i stop it since august 14. and i had difficulty in sleeping and in my bowel movement i also had excessive sweating. when will i be back in my normal phase?  thanks

These medications: were given to you for a reason. Stopping them may not help you to return to your normal phase. Check with your health care provider for a better evaluation and suggestions.

i took lexapro, serotia, zolgen but i was not really depressed. i took these for 2 days. but i stop it since august 14. but i had difficulty in sleeping and my bowel movement. i had excessive sweating before  but now gone. when to be at normal phase?

Not the meds: Hi
If you only took those meds for 2 days and the last dose you had was August 14th, the symptoms you are having are not due to the medications. It's from something else. Hope this helps
