Beta blockers: Most neurologists will start with propanolol or another beta blocker for et.  Other meds worth trying include primidone, and medium acting benzodiazepines.  Talk to your neurologist.

Yes, several!!: Assuming tremor is severe enough to warrant treatment, the usual list of trial & error options are as follows: Mysoline (primidone) , propranolol, topomax, Diamox or similar neptazene, or even Botox injections. Less often used: Neurontin or zonisamide. Finally, if moderate to severe & meds won't cut it anymore, 2surgical procedures: deep brain stimulation of the stn or radiosurgery to vim nucleus of thalamus.

Be wary of boosters: Many supplements, foods, herbs, other plants, and techniques are claimed to "boost" the immune system, but none have been proven effective. The immune system is complex, and "boosting" it to make it act stronger is not always a good thing. In conditions like arthritis, thyroid disease, diabetes type 1, lupus, eczema, etc..., the immune system is over-acting and damaging the patient's own organs.

i am 39 & with essential hypertension since 18yrs.also type 2 dm.i am not on regular medications. i am getting occasional left sided chest pain.why?

Chest pain: When somebody has to chest pain , cardiac origin has to be ruled out. See your doctor.

my essential tremor has progressed to abnormal gait head arm and leg problems and pain in all areas despite all the medications they have put me on. 24 meds for various symptoms.  not working to increasing pain meds overwhelms my mind. help?

PT and pain doc: Unclear where your pain originates, as tremors and abnormal gait should not hurt. 
1. See a physical therapist to work on balance and assistive devices to prevent falls
2. See a pain doc to determine why you hurt and look at meds/treatments that will be better tolerated. 
3. See a neurologist for tremor treatments that could help all of your ills.   Good luck

Treatment not cure: The best and most effective medications for essential tremor reduce the tremor by 50% at best.  There is no medication that is 100% effective.  E.g. Propranolol may require very high doses to be effective but then produce unwanted side effects.  This is a constant battle  for patients! : Yes, most medications in tablets can be crushed unless they are labeled as long acting or slow released tablets.

i am 50yrs old female and recently went for blood tests.my liver is a little high and was told to have another test in 3 months.i want to take essential for liver .is it advisable ?will it affect my other medication?

Not now: For the repeat liver tests best would be to avoid taking any supplements, no acetaminophen or alcohol. That would give your doc the best chance of explaining your results and order further tests if needed. Make sure you share with your doc all prescribed, OTC meds and/or supplements.

Essential tremor: I get that question a lot and honestly do not have a great option for you.  Sometimes magnesium can help, dosing with mg malate 400 mg per day if tolerated.  Some people have used herbs like lemon balm, passion flower, and lavender and there are advocates for a number of homeopathic remedies.  Deep brain stimulation is an excellent treatment if you are willing to consider.
