No relation: Epididymitis will not cause erectile dysfunction, certainly not 40 years later. You're at an age when ED becomes quite common, usually with no particular cause known. (It doesn't matter now, but 40 years ago it was thought physical strain could cause epididymitis. We now know that doesn't happen. It is much more likely you had an infection, e.g. chlamydia.)

Yes: Epididymitis, which is inflammation of the epididymis, can result in a firmer enlargement of the area just behind the testicle.  The area is also usually tender to the touch.  It is important to get your urine tested to make sure that you do not have a urinary tract infection that is not contributing to the inflammation.  An ultrasound may also be done to ensure that there is no mass present.

Probably more recent: Chlamydia usually is cleared by the immune system long before a year. More likely this is a more recent infection, probably under 3 months and maybe under a month.

Here are some...: A residual urine at 55 ml is slightly higher than its normal for one at 28, but the questions on if PVR is detected by catheter or ultrasound, if done right after "normal" voiding without waiting too long with an overdistended bladder, &amp; if technically done correctly. Even done as suggested, one should correlate the value with clinical profile and voiding pattern so to decide its validity for you.

: Epidydimal swelling takes 3-4 weeks to go away completely in epididymitis. no concerns Pl wear a good support underwear

Very unlikely: Very unlikely for oral sex, I would think. but if you think HIV might be involved, get tested. Better safe than sorry. Were you checked for HSV (herpes?)
