Use 2nd method: Until you can get back on track be extra careful and use a second contraceptive method as backup for at least a month.The pill works by fooling your body into thinking it is already pregnant, causing it not to release an egg.If you used dummy pills and the body thinks it is time to ovulate, pregnancy is possible. The 4 you took may just make you have hormone side effects.

It depends mostly: ...on how long you've been bleeding &amp; how heavy the bleeding is.  If you period lasts more than a week or so OR if you've been bleeding heavily for 5 days or more, you should contact your doctor. Some basics: A properly done home pregnancy test should be positive in pregnancy as soon as a delay in the cycle is noted &amp; definitely a week or more later. Some women occasionally skip a cycle &amp; may see delays of a month or more.   Nausea is a non-specific symptom of many conditions. Re-testing is an option as is looking for another cause of the symptom.

Complex: Female hormones may have complex effects, as sometimes headaches seem associated and yet, bcp's may control headaches in others.  There seems in some cases, to be an association with estrogen, but not always.  Talk to your gynecologist about this, as it is not so simple, and perhaps you are best advised to treat the headache separately with appropriate preventative meds.

Don't bet on it: The pill works by maintaining a level of hormone in your system that stops egg release. No egg=no pregnancy. If you are trying to load up the system like a morning after pill, don't depend on it to work since it is not designed  for that use. There are morning after pills with proper dose that would work that way available without prescription.
