Just started?: Break thru bleeding is common on the first package of pills or any time you miss pills or take them late. If you are taking them at the same time every day and have been on them for more than 2 months and are still having breakthrough bleeding you should talk to your doctor. This can be a sign of an infection or you could need a different pill.

Not the best method: The way to prevent your period from coming is to keep taking your pills during the placebo week, or the week you are off the pills.  Doubling up will not stop your period from coming if you still stop the pills at the end of the packet.  The lowest dose of pill that is effective is the best dose to take.  If you double up you are at risk to have more side effects from the pills.

Unprot sex = prg cha: Any time u have unprotected sex, u have a chance of becoming pregnant. Birth control pills (BCP) lower the risk, but there have been cases of "failure" of BCPs. The fact that u missed a few doses probably slightly increases your chances. You did the right thing in "making up" the missed doses, but when u take BCP erratically, it is less effective. If you want to knw, take a home pregnancy test.

Most likely, yes: If it was only one pill "missed" doubling the medication the day you remember will usually suffice. If it was more than 3 days, the odds the egg escaped with conception is more likely.

BCP ?'s: Low dose oral contraceptives are still effective at pregnancy protection, but missing one of the 21 active pills may start withdrawal bleeding, however, taking two pills may not stop light bleeding, so if this occurs, stop all pills for five days, then start a new pack, and take them punctually, within the hour of taking the previous day's active pill.

Check pregnancy test: First and foremost CHECK A PREGNANCY TEST. While you can't have a normal menstrual cycle if pregnant you can have vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy that can be mistaken for a period. This may be more common in women who have been on BCP's but not taking them correctly. There are of course other reasons for nausea.

Basics: The pill generally works by maintaining a stable level of hormone(s) in the blood that prevents egg release. Stop the pill for a month &amp; the system re-sets to normal &amp; eggs release. Many OB's recommend a backup  BC for up to a month when starting the pill to be sure eggs are not released while the body adapts to it.
