It has few side-effe: It is an artificial "progesterone" like drug   (progestin). It is not used much in the us, but it can be used to prevent miscarriages do to hormone imbalance, and it can be given with estrogen, uusally 17-beta-estradiol to prevent uterine hyperplasia, breakthrough bleeding, and uterine cancer, in women who have a uterus. It has some benefits over medroxy- and methylprogesterone.

Dydrogesterone may produce side effects like headache, irregular periods, blood spotting, heavy bleeding during period, weight gain, liver complications like jaundice (ALCOHOL is toxic to an extent to liver), abdominal discomfort etc. If any of these symptoms persists or becomes severe the doctor immediately. Progesterone: Duphaston is progesterone.  Progesterone stabilize the lining of the uterus.  When Progesterone is taken away (when you stop taking the medication) that cause a period.

Yes : Safe for baby and necessary to maintain your pregnancy. You were probably low and at risk of losing baby without the extra because for some reason your body did not make more itself.Enjoy being pregnant! congrats !

: The FSH and LH levels are suggestive of perimenopause and the dydrogesterone will not effect that. It can potentially can cause withdrawal bleeding but it will have no effect on ovulation, which would result in a true period. No withdrawal bleeding does not mean there is a problem.

After stopping it: After your body clears the medication after your last dose bleeding usually occurs. It does not always happen with Progesterone only mediations.

Higher  risk: But i would not use the word threatening! follow dr advise closely and close monitoring and you should do ok.

Similar: I think it comes down to "what are you using them for?" in IVF. Both are synthetic progestins, both are safe with limited side effects. For regulating a cycle start there should be no difference. Some protocols use Duphaston (dydrogesterone) for luteal support in IVF, MPA (medroxy-P) would be  a less good choice - although micronized progesterone is probably superior to both.
