Throat discomfort: Top diagnoses to think about this time of year would be strep throat, allergic sinusitis &amp; post-nasal drip, all of which can be tied into each other. To help with symptoms, you can obtain an antihistamine like Allegra &amp; pair it with a nasal steroid like Flonase, both are OTC. Gargle with Listerine. Plenty fluids. If you are having fevers and the mucus is yellow-green, see your doc for antibiotics.

is it okay to drink a energy drink that is more natural and has around 150 mg of caffeine after consuming a lions mane and chaga instant coffee mix that only has 50 mg of caffeine . all while having cold symptoms such as cough and sore throat?

See below: One of the most common causes of increased thirst is diabetes - both type 1 and type 2 - I would make an appointment with your doctor and get an evaluation for diabetes - Until then, I would make sure that you are also replacing electrolytes -- Drinking largeamounts of plain water can lower your sodium level - which can cause additional problems.

Avoid coffee: Obviously you are reacting to something in the coffee.  You can change brands and see if that helps.  If the symptoms persist, then try tea or some other beveridge.

Whatever is helpful: Some people's throats feel better after sipping warm drinks, while other people feel better after sipping cold drinks. There are no rules on what one can drink if one has a sore throat, but tart (sour) drinks might make a sore throat worse.

Same as gargles: Warm soup has the same effect as warm salt water gargles in relaxing the muscles.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Drinking alcohol....: ...Relaxes the muscles of the throat and increases snoring.  It may put you to sleep, but the quality of sleep is often worse.  You are likely snoring more, sleeping with your mouth open, and drying out the mucus membranes of your throat, thus causing irritation.

Have it evaluated : You may want to get him evaluated at his doc's or urgent care prior to the weekend.If strep, treatment can start, if not they can advise you on ways to soothe the throat & maintain oral intake until the process improves.
