No Interaction : There is apparently no known significant interaction and therefore no decreased effectiveness of  Nexplanon when used with doxycycline.

Yes: There are no drug-drug interactions with those two (doxycycline and nexplanon) and the doxy does not decrease the effectiveness of the nexplanon.

No: Doxycycline shouldn't affect your periods.  Periods tend to be somewhat random on Nexplanon.  Best wishes!

: The idea that antibiotics interfere with hormonal birth control isn't quite an urban myth, but it's close. It's a theoretical problem that is actually extremely rare. You can safely assume you have no chance of getting pregnant, regardless of doxycycline or other antibiotics.

does doxycycline monohydrate interfere with my implant nexplanon? if so, how long until my nexplanon is fully effective again? i only took the doxycycline for a week?

: The idea that antibiotics interfere with hormonal birth control is overstated. It's not quite in the class of an urban myth, but it's close; actual interference is extremely rare. But of course you are free to use condoms for the next few days to provide an extra measure of protection. At your age condoms usually are a good idea for STD protection as well.

nexplanon insert 12/2017, periods last 3 or 4 days starting spots heavy then light normally.  its been 8 days of heavy nonstop flow following yeast infection treated w/2days queenv. should i be concerned? would doxycycline help reregulate?

Nexplanon ?'s: Nexplanon inserts are progesterone only , and can interfere with regular ovulation, producing irregular bleeding at times. No birth control method is 100% certain, so obtain a serum HCG test to be sure about pregnancy. Antibiotics will not affect Nexplanon effectiveness or "re-regulate" your cycle.

my nexplanon was inserted about a year ago today. no period since my date of insertion. i am on doxycycline and this morning i woke up to a period which varies from light pink/ red. is this normal? does implant still work? am i at risk for pregnancy?

: About 1/3 of people on Nexplanon do not have periods. Others have irregular periods. This is normal and expected. IF the Nexplanon is still in your arm then it is working.

No: Doxycycline is unlikely to cause irregular bleeding either during or after treatment.

is heavy bleeding common with chlymidia? i have 2 days left on the doxycycline, can i look forward to the bleeding stopping anytime soon?

Re-check w/ doctor: Vaginal bleeding can with chlamydia, but usually only a small amount, spotting, etc. And if it were all chlamydia, it should have improved by now. Check back with your doctor ASAP. Good luck.
