Douching is NOT REC: Recommneded when you are pregnant, cause it could cause bleeding, an infection as bacteria could get pushed up into the uterus, depending on how far you are along could cause rupture of membranes and rarely other more serious probelms, please discuss with your ob.

Discuss this with your OB/GYN doctor for best advice, and options available depending on what trimester you are in too.

Not douching: Douching is never recommended.  The vagina is a self-cleaning organ and douching can push harmful bacteria into the vagina or change the pH balance which allows infections to occur.  Gentle cleaning of the outside of the vagina with soap and water is all that is necessary and safe.

No: While douching decreases the amount of sperm present, you can still get pregnant.  There are a lot of options for birth control and if you don't want to be pregnant, you should talk to your doctor.
