No: No it cannot work as an effective form of birth control.  In addition douching can cause vaginal infections.

: It is a herbal product so I do not think we have enough scientific evidence to advise you about the effectiveness and drug interaction.

Higher dose: The hormones in one birth control pill are not in high enough levels to be used a an emergency contraceptive (EC) Multiple pills must be taken to get an emergency contraceptive effect. Your doctor can advise you on the number of pills needed, depending on the specific birth control pill. Missing a birth control pill increases pregnancy risk, so EC would be needed for each sexual encounter.

It may: According to roger harm md from mayo clinic, a progestin –only oral contraceptive may cause nausea, breast tenderness & irregularity of bleeding.

Pregnancy: Regular oral contraceptives, taken as directed, are quite effective (99%), and the "morning after" pill (emergency contraception) is up to 89% effective if taken within 72 hours of intercourse to prevent pregnancy. Douching is not effective. If contraceptives have been used and a period is missed then urine pregnancy tests are about 97% accurate if done correctly.

Not the right use: Seasonique is a "birth control pill". It was never marketed to stop pregnancy neither is Plan B. Plan B is for "emergency contraception", which is still "prevention". If you think you are pregnant you can use a home pregnancy test but you should really see your family physician or gynecologist if you are not sure why your period is late.

Irregular menses: Delays in onset or missing menstrual periods can be due to anything that disturbs your hormonal balance, including underlying infections, including sinusitis or other uris.  Without having had sex this is probably not due to the most common cause, which is pregnancy, but your definition of sex is important. Remember president clinton? At age 18 probably not, but ask around.

Normal: Combined Oral Contraceptives (COCs) help patients with PCOS prevent hyperplasia (overgrowth of uterine tissue) and promote regular menstrual cycles.  However, it can take several months for this to occur, and in some PCOS patients may not lead to normal menstrual cycles.  However the COCs are still reducing endometrial cancer risk and may improve acne and hirsutism (facial hair) in PCOS patients.
