I would stay: with the daily pills and allow your body to acclimate to the new hormones you are ingesting.  Taking double doses haphazardly usually will not staunch the bleeding immediately, especially if you take twice the dose of a blank or placebo pill. Not a good idea: I will not recommend either.Take the BCPils as you have been taking and contact your Gynecologist an ay need to b checked

Depends: Birth control pills may be the best way to "regulate" cycled since they provide scheduled bleeding during the last (placebo) pills. Other birth control options like depoprovera may trigger irregular bleeding initially. The patch & vag ring also help provide more predictable cycles. Mirena (levonorgestrel) (iud) may initially present with irregular bleeding for up to 6 months, then they become lighter or absent.

Not cheaply: There are a couple of birth control pills on walmart's discount list that cost ~ $9 for a pack, and can be very helpful.  Discuss your options with your dr.

Withdrawal bleeding: due to Assuming that you have not had any unprotected intercourse, I would call your GYN for a more mature pill and a pelvic exam. If sexually active, get a pregnancy test.

Ocps: Doubling today is the equivalent of the dose of birth control pill of 7-10 years ago. The dose is quite low. This may help but it may not either.

Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time)  is very common on birth control. It happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time.  If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen  then consider using a different birth control method. It is a common side effect and does not mean something is wrong or that the pill is not working.
