Start a calendar: It's always good to keep track of your bleeding patterns and although this is different from what you've had in the past, it's not abnormal for the nature of your periods to change from time to time. I'd take a short period to be a blessing. ;) If your periods are irregular or heavy consistently though, see a gynecologist.

Sexually active?: If you have been sexually active without protection- it might be implantation bleeding. If not - a small amount of spotting is not uncommon.

Irregular periods are one of the most common problems Obgyns treat.: If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections &  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  there are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Hormones: Hormones are most likely to blame, but you might want to check with doctor to make sure thyroid is normal. Extremes of weight can also cause loss of menstrual cycle (thin/heavy). If continues definitely see dr to rule any more systemic problems.

Not likely: It is more likely (since pink) to be from your urethra--either a urethritis (infection or irritation/sore) or a bladder infection. "check yourself" for symptoms related to bladder infection (burning/urgent need to go/frequent need to go/low abd pain/fever/etc.)? If present, should get tested. If pink persists / worsens (/reddens on tp) should also get examined.

Ovulation problem: It depends on whether flow is on time or not.  Assuming pregnancy has been ruled out,  it may not necessarily be a problem.  If it occurs in more than one cycle, you should see your physician.
