They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.  If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection.

All can be true: Urine pregnancy tests are rarely negative if you are pregnant.  And they are not specific for what type of pregnancy (normal, not normal, ectopic, etc).  Stress, hormone imbalances, thyroid disease can all cause irregular periods. You should see your doctor to figure out which is the problem.  Better to know and treat now.  Good luck!

Hormonal imbalance: If you did the test correctly and have not had unprotected sex since Jan 21, you are not pregnant. Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor.
