i developed thrush after sex with boyfriend. we haven't had sex since so does he need to be treated? he's showing no symptoms + my doctor says there's no point as thrush is always on the skin anyway. he didn't reinfect me after the last time, either?

"Thrush" ?'s: "Thrush" is another term for possible fungal infection.  Most fungal vaginal infections are not transmitted to the male partner unless the partner is not circumcised.  Treatment is similar for males in this instance if symptoms arise.

Thrush: Is cause by the Candida Albicans fungus that lives in our digestive system. When in balance, it assists us in digestion as well as other benificial functions. When out of balance it can lead to oral thrush or even vaginal yeast infections. It will autocorrect eventually in healthy patients but if it is severe, you are ill, have hiv, or other chronic health conditions it needs to be treated.

Yeast Infection: Thrush is caused by a yeast called candidas & can be treated with an antifungal prescribed by a doctor.  If bottle fed, there's fungus on the nipples so boil nipples and pacifiers daily.  If breast fed, you need to treat the mom too.  Normally, the bacteria that live in our mouths stops the yeast from growing, but in babies it's not well established enough to stop the yeast yet.

Not as well.: There are some over-the-counter remedies, but no guarantee that they will work as well.You can try rinsing with a baking soda solution, salt water,cider vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. However these are not good options if you are treating a baby. Gentian violet is also another option, but is a bit messy. As with any meds, please discuss with your doctor.

Possible, unlikely: Most incidents of invasive Candida in newborns have been in those on prolonged antibiotics, very low birth weight (&lt;1500g) with indwelling catheters or iv's.  In addition to nystatin, oral fluconazole is well tolerated and usually has good results.  Consider using oral probiotic drops to provide a source of friendly bacteria to compete with Candida.

Which meds?: Why on meds? Names of meds? Evidence of thrush? If you fail to get a return from your Dr, check to see if you used correct procedure. You may need to see a different Dr. The question is to continue meds or not. But you forgot to identify the meds or the reason for them.
