Get checked out!: You are assuming you have reflux.  Our brain can't tell the difference in painful signals from heart, esophagus, stomach, duodenum, liver, pancreas, bile ducts of liver, or gallbladder.  So 'acid reflux' could be illnesses of any of those organs.  A good doctor will ask questions like what brings it on, makes it worse/better, how long it lasts, associated problems. GERD: Without much information, the following will be my advice: 
1. follow anti-reflux measures,
2. avoid the offending food
3. avoid excessive caffeine, smoking and no alcohol in any form or fashion
4. if still have symptoms you need to revisit your doctor

Pain,vomiting: You probably had an episode of gastritis with a component of delayed emptying of stomach contents from the previous nights meal. If abdominal pain persists,especially with tenderness of the abdomen, an examination by a physician is recommended. Otherwise eat smaller,more frequent bland,nongreasy foods. Avoid eating for two or three hours before bedtime.

Not bile: For you to throw up bile you must be obstructed beyond the point the bile enters the small intestine.If this is happening you need to be in the emergency room now.

Acid reflux: Have you tried anything like rantidine or Prevecid for reflux which is over the counter? Would also get checked for H pylori  a bacteria that is associated with gastritis and reflux as you will need antibiotics to treat it. Would also elevate head of bed when sleeping ( put pillow under mattress) and consider evaluation for gallbladder disease.

This : This sounds like it could possibly be muscle pain. Has he tried advil or ibuprofen? If not he should and monitor for effect. Otherwise if the problem persists he should follow up with his doctor.

Throwing up: The important point is to what is cause of throwing up. Just like tylenol (acetaminophen) can bring down the temperature but would not fix the underlying problem.

Treatment includes avoiding trigger factors, not eating at least 2 to 3 hours before lying down. losing weight and taking antireflux medications.
