After a while: The symptoms can persist for a couple weeks after treatment. Sometimes it takes more than one treatment, but even with killing all the bugs, it will take a couple weeks for the rash to resolve.

Few days after: Treatment starts in most cases but a little benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream may help.

A couple thoughts: If you overuse scabies medicines it can cause skin irritation.  You may itch for several weeks after tx because your skin is still reacting to the mites /feces.

It can : Alcohol is very drying for the skin, and can worsen itch. 
Instead ask your doctor for a prescription strength topical steroid which will be very helpful.

Side Effect: The topical scabies treatments do actually cause itching because they are irritating to the skin itself.  You can try topical cortisone 1% as well as zyrtec (cetirizine) antihistamine as needed for itching, then retreat with scabies treatment if not resolved within a week.  Good Luck!

Itchy rash: Scabies may cause itching for some time after treatment but this is prolonged itching. Make sure there is no re-infection or another cause of this itching. Need to talk to your physician about seeing a dermatologist

Various Rx's: Any pharmacist can recommend any of several good scabicides if this is indeed what this is.

Scabies.: The differential diagnosis for Scabies may include:

Atopic dermatitis / Eczema
Contact dermatitis
Drug reaction
Impetigo
Pitaryiasis Rosea
Seborrheic dermatitis
Pediculosis
Urticaria/ Papular urticaria

Repeat: You may have torepeat it (as instructed).  Remember to was your linens in hot water.

Scabies: Scabies is incredibly contagious so messing with the lesions is going to make it worse. You need to take the oral pills for scabies and stop scratching at the lesions!!!
