i use a lot of garlic salt on my food every day and get diarrhea about 1-2 times per month. could garlic be causing it? would onion powder be safer?

Accepted Answer

Maybe: It sounds more like you have irritable bowel syndrome and that is often set off by nerves, life problems, lack of sleep and stress.  It would not hurt to stop the garlic salt for a month and see if it disappears.  See your doctor to discuss this in more detail.

i have had bouts of diarrhea for 2 weeks no fever it stopped for 2 days after i stopped taking garlic. everything same. what could be causing this?

Careful: It could be food sensitivities or a gastrointestinal illness, or a side effect of your supplement.  Supplements can have health benefits, but they can also cause side effects, especially if your product contains contaminants or excessive amounts of the active ingredients.  If stopping the garlic makes the diarrhea go away, then i would stop the garlic, allow for some time of healing, then research.

should i stop eating citrus fruits since every time i eat them i end up with a diarrhea. i have been eating oranges, pineapples, (ginger+garlic+lemons+honey tea). for 2weeks now my stool is waterly?

: Fruits do cause diarrhea in some people more than others. Fruit contains the sugar, fructose which tends to be a laxative. Fiber and lycopene in fruits also tend to loosen stools.  Again some people eats lots of fruits with no symptoms. Eat smaller portions,avoid eating thick skins on fruit and try to determine which fruits are more problematic for you.

i have slight headaches for the 3rd day. they come and go. my throat and nostrils are dry but not sore. no dizziness, no fever, no diarrhea, no coughing. im drinking vit-c daily and a ginger and garlic mix. should i test for covid?

Not sure : Interesting association you have found. I'm not sure how the garlic is helping. Can you eat cheese ? Yogurt ? Without garlic?  If not , just try lactaid (100%) milk without garlic and see result.

Not normally.: The most common symptoms of a cold are sneezing, running nose, feeling tired, congestion and scratchy throat.  Additional symptoms can be coughing, headaches, mucus dripping down the back of the throat, loss of appetite and fever (in children).

What's the cause?: Not a weird question at all!  "plugging up" diarrhea will not cure an infection, fix an inflammatory process, improve an ischemic gut, or correct a functional issue.  Medical evaluation is recommended appropriate to the duration of your symptoms, associations (bleeding, weight loss, pain, vomiting), as well as your other medical co-morbidities.  Call your doctor please and get checked.

what causes bad diarrhea for a week and had one day of sickness?

Injury: Insult to the bowel from viral or bacterial infection and treatment with antibiotics that kill off "good bacteria" can cause this problem.  I would first try taking probiotics from the health food store.  The recommended daily amount taken three times daily for one week then daily.  If this doesnt' solve problem or it is too severe to wait then see your physician.
