It is a retinoid: These creams have been shown to improve winkles but were primarily used for acne treatment.  Many patients feel that their improvement faded after they stopped using the cream.  The results do not compare with other forms of skin wrinkle improvement including laser treatments and even ipl in those patients with a lot of undesirable redness at the "crows feet" region.

: Differin is used for acne and also as antiaging to prevent wrinkles and fine lines.Ambi is used for pigmententation on face that cause dark marks and skin discoloration.It also moisturises the skin..You can use differin for wrinkles and fine lines.Dark circles under eyes may not be due to pigmentation and may respond to cold compresses.Use of double pillows to elevate head and get extra sleep.

Both Effective: Use a gel if you have oily skin.  Gels have an alcohol base and tend to dry out your skin.

Use a cream if you have dry skin. Darker skin also does better with creams.  This is usually a half water/half oil mixture.

: Totally safe to use longterm, through your 40's, 50's ,60's, 70's and even 80's !.
Often takes upto 4-6 months, if using Retin-A nightly, for facial changes as you mention to become apparent .

Retin-A : Retin-a is safe to use long-term. It is usually applied every 1 to 3 days depending on how sensitive your skin is. I often have patients start with an every 3rd day routine and build up to more frequent application slowly over several weeks.

Retin-a is best for fine lines so it may not have much effect on your deeper creases. The effect of Retin-A takes a few months to be evident so you have to stick with it to see the results.
