No, unlikely to help: Biotin deficiency is rare, but can occur in persons with genetic mutations, on long-term antibiotics or anti-convulsants, or who eat a lot of raw egg whites. There is no good evidence that this over-the-counter supplement is the magic potion to thicken hair, grow hair, or prevent hair loss. Biotin is safe to take in the usual amounts, but not in the huge doses that some websites are suggesting.

So brand probably does not matter. It can cause constipation.

Hair grows in cycles: Hair grows in a cycle.  There is nothing you can apply now that will maintain efficacy several cycles from now.  I am a fan of biotin, and always use it as an adjunct to treatment for thinning hair.  I typically recommend a dose of 3000 mcg per day to see benefit in hair growth. Aloe Vera: can help with tissue healing but will not necessarily have an effect on hair regrowth.  Most products have relatively low Aloe Vera Content. Thus if you do need to apply Aloe Vera in the future - breaking off a "leaf" from the plan and applying directly is often the best choice. Take care.
