Use correct cleaning: techniques. New piercings are usually cleaned twice a day. Do not twist  jewelry / post. Saturate gauze w saline solution (pinch of sea salt in warm water), place on piercing &amp; allow it to gently drip into the piercing. Or you can buy pressurized saline solution at a drug store.

Piercing infection: Check for signs of infection: ^'ed redness, warmth, swelling. ^'ed tenderness, pus, red streaking, swollen lymph nodes or fever. Recommend keeping piercing in place  unless directed by Dr (if removed – drainage tract will close up w ^'ed risk of abscess formation). Call Dr for medical evaluation. Your Dr may prescribe oral antibiotics or antibiotic ointments to apply to piercing site.

Not normal: I recommend treating this inflammation/infection by warm water applications, wash with soap, pat dry and apply an antibiotic ointment like Neosporin or bacitracin. There may be an element of an allergic reaction to the earring.

Signs : Signs of an infection are: redness, swelling, pain, and warmth to the touch.  You may or may not notice pus leaking from the site of infection.  The best way to treat a piercing infection is to remove the piercing (in your case an earring) and call your doctor since you may need antibiotics.  You then need to leave the piercing out, let the hole heal over and re-pierce when completely healed.  Otherwise, if you replace an earring while the wound is still infected, the bacteria cling to the earring where the antibiotics cannot reach and continue to reinfect the site.

i have an earlobe infection in my right ear piercing, could that cause my right lypmh node on my neck to swell?

Skin & lymph nodes: Yes, a skin infection can cause swelling in a lymph node nearby.  When infection happens on the skin, certain immune system cells go from the skin to nearby lymph nodes to recruit more immune system cells to fight the infection.  Since the lymph node is busy making more cells to fight infection, it gets bigger and can sometimes even be tender to touch.  It will go down after infection is resolved.

: Amoxicillin generally does not cause bacterial vaginosis. You should be fine from that point of view. Be sure you take the entire course of antibiotics., Even if you’re feeling better. Good luck.
